Over the past few months I've landed on a some simple tricks to keep my mind focused and engaged with the person I'm speaking to:
- Make the Zoom window full screen
- Pin the speaker view
- Hide the selfie view
- Use a paper notepad (vs. computer notes)
- Turn on DND on my devices
- Move my external mouse and keyboard to an inconvenient place
What this looks like in practice: me sitting across the table from you, listening intently, taking notes. Zoom meetings are not nearly as rewarding as meeting in-person. Maybe 50%. But it's better than nothing.
